ITIDA Launches Software Testing Competition to Drive Innovation in Software Testing Solutions

The Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC), part of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), has announced the launch and opened registration for the Software Testing Competition, held as part of the 4th edition of Software Testing Day.
The event aims to inspire innovative and impactful solutions addressing real-world challenges in software testing and quality.
The competition aligns with ITIDA’s ongoing efforts to enhance the competitiveness of Egypt’s software industry, strengthen specialized professional skills, and develop digital solutions capable of competing in regional and international markets, in line with the country’s vision to build a knowledge-based digital economy.
Participation is open to undergraduates and professionals, including software testers and developers, who are invited to submit innovative ideas addressing practical software testing challenges. Focus areas include, but are not limited to, automated test-case generation, automated test scripting, defect reporting and root-cause analysis, synthetic test-data generation, test execution scheduling and prioritization, and self-healing automation scripts, in addition to other ideas that contribute to improving software quality and efficiency.
Teams may consist of up to five members, with each participant allowed to join only one team and each team permitted to submit only one idea. Participants must enter the competition as independent teams without representing any organization, company, or entity. Teams are also required to adhere to ethical and professional standards in choosing team names and determining the nature of their submissions, ensuring a fair, responsible, and competitive innovation environment.
Accepted teams will be notified on February 15, after which they will develop their ideas into prototypes or fully integrated software solutions from April 5 to May 7. Three winners will be announced on May 11 during the Software Testing Day, where shortlisted teams will present final prototypes or software solutions before an international jury panel. All presentations and supporting materials must be delivered in English to ensure consistency, transparency, and uniform evaluation standards.
In line with the highest standards of integrity, participants must confirm that their submitted ideas have not previously won in any similar competition and are not commercial products currently available or planned for market release. Any submission violating professional conduct rules or involving discrimination, abuse, or unethical behavior will be subject to immediate disqualification.
Established in 2001, SECC continues to serve as ITIDA’s knowledge and technical arm, supporting the growth of Egypt’s software industry. It operates as an internationally accredited center of excellence, providing technical consultancy and certification services to software companies to enhance their development processes and support the adoption of global software engineering standards.
